Rotherham Pride 2020 will be the 8th year of the annual event, which has increased in relation to both attendance and impact. Rotherham Pride 2019 welcomed over 7000 attendees over the course of the day at Clifton Park and around 300 in the Parade.
Rotherham Pride is the biggest LGBT+ event in Rotherham which is family friendly and free. Rotherham Pride provides an opportunity to enhance LGBT+ visibility and bring people together to help build community cohesion in and across communities.
Rotherham Pride host further community engagement events throughout the year to celebrate LGBT+ Awareness dates including International Day against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia and LGBT+ History Month.
Locally there are no statutory support services for the LGBT+ Adult community and very limited statutory provision for LGBT+ Young People. This enhances the need for this event to provide an inclusive safe space for the community to find out about support available, establish connections and celebrate diversity.
Rotherham Pride is operated by a dedicated team of unpaid volunteers who work tirelessly all year round to improve Pride for the benefit of the LGBT+ and wider community.
We depend upon sponsorship, donations from events & local businesses, personal donations and stalls revenue from Pride day plus the money we raise through our fundraising activities.
Rotherham Pride aims to champion diversity and promote equality and inclusion by;
-Eliminating discrimination with focus on sexual orientation & gender identity;
-Enhancing education and raising awareness to support LGBT+ individuals; and
-To create a safe environment for LGBT+ people, their families and allies to help reduce social exclusion and enhance community cohesion.
